StrikeForce Weigh-Ins - 4/10

I was at the StrikeForce Shamrock vs. Diaz weigh-ins yesterday...

I attended the StrikeForce weigh-ins in November, before they purchsed the assets of EliteXC, and also went to the StrikeForce weigh-ins yesterday. What a difference a few months make. There were so many more members of the media present, and the place was just packed. It was hard to maneuver around, actually. But I met some really cool people.

Along with several members of the MMA media, I met Jerry Millen, formerly with Pride, currently with M-1. I shook hands with Jake Shields and Alistair Overeem, as well as meeting Kingdom MMA's T. Jay Thompson, who is a potential client. I also spoke with "The Fight Professor" Stephen Quadros, who was so friendly. MMA's Kevin Bacon (the similarity in looks is uncanny) was happy to talk to me, asking questions, asking for my card, talking about his days in Pride commentating with Bas Rutten, and where the sport is going. I really enjoyed talking to him, and I hope to hear from him (he said he planned to email me).

Shamrock and Diaz getting weighed in was an event in and of itself. The media members that I was hanging out with were trying to guess what Diaz would do, and one guess right. As soon as they stepped face-to-face, Diaz started talking, and Shamrock quickly started giving it back. They were quickly separated, but Diaz had to get in the last word.

It was a fun time, and I made some very good contacts for my business and clients. "Shamrock vs. Diaz" should be a great event. Stay tuned...
